Would be awesome if the USB plug was vertical rather than horizontal on the PCI card. On some motherboards with many PCI slots (BIOSTAR TB250‑BTC PRO, e.g.), the slots are arranged so that only 7 slots can be used with these riser cards, unless L-shaped USB adapter is used.

Yes I understand, typically we sell these packs for users that are placing these units in a case, so the right angled USB adapters allow them to fit a PSU on-top of them. We’re working on our own custom PCB board solution using ribbon cables that will have more reliability than the current designs. So stay tuned!

I disagree about the angle not being a good idea–for the board I use (Asrock H110 Pro BTC+), this is a great solution, and means you get a couple cm more length on the cables to get to the cards so I can have nice loops leading to the risers rather than it being too tight. The difference with this angle on the card is that the USB plug comes out of the side closer to the CPU rather than the other direction, so it’s hard to mix and match these with others on one board, but you can do it if you have the typical cards on the right side of the board rather than the left. The only downside I experienced with this is that it blocks the M2 slot if you’d hoped to use an M2 to PCI adapter to get that extra port on this board.
